Title:

TERRITORIES OF THE HEURISTICS A TERMINOLOGICAL INVESTIGATION

Keywords:

Abstract:

From the mythical exclamation ÒÁEureka!Ó of Arquimedes until the denomination of antivirus programs of last generation of computers, the word heuristics has delineated a wide territory of landmarks of which we will try to raise. Our purpose is restricted, but absolutely necessary in the outline of a discipline that under this name includes the fields of the invention, the creativity and the solution of problems.
Although frecuently the Heuristics is associated to a strong mathematical characteristic, present indeed in the foundation works of Polya and continued in the current elaborations of the artificial intelligence, it is possible to open to more heterogeneous knowledges. The word heuristics is present in the horizon of the Greek thought, in poets like Homer and Sophocles and in PlatoÕs and aristotleÕs philosophy. Also appropiating of this concept, the religious field refers to the Heuristics as an introductory discipline to the biblical exegesis. In a sense related with this last one, we find in the historical disciplines where it appears as a necessary and initial stage of the specific investigation. In our time, and to mention some names only, Pushkin 1 focuses it from the psychology and he refers to this discipline as science of the creative thought. Lakatos 2 recaptures the mathemathical road of Heuristics proposing it as methodology opposed to the formalist vision and Pearl 3 presents its application in the search of strategies for CPS (Computer Problem Solving). The field of Art and Design Ñthat for us constitutes a particular theorethical and didactic focus of attentionÑ is elaborating the possibility to establish its organizing principles around Heuristics.
In this variety of focuses, our work aims the revision of those common and differential elements that allow the creation of the genealogy of this discipline.
