Abstract:

 Arte Acaso (Art-Chance) is a site related to the doctorate research titled Poetics of Chance developed by the author at the São Paulo University Communication and Art School. The site intends to join the needs of academic work with potential of access and interaction with the public provided by the Internet. For this purpose, a number of the author's as well as other guest researchers' small articles which deals with different aspects of the concept of chance toward other fields of art, communication and science are available. Some interactive sections can be seen, among them Chance Poem, where small poems are formed through collage of sentences left by the public and Chance Music, where a random program generates a sound sequence from the visitor's personal data. Art-Chance also has a Gallery where a guest artist exhibits works that have chance as a concept or uses it as a creation tool.
