Abstract: |
Thoughts on MAN/SPACE relationship triggered the challenge of terminologies which are inherent to art-technology, which evolved semantically, as time went by, while acquiring multiple significance. What is space? What is a natural or artificial space? How does a man relate to such space? What is the role of a body in space ? What is a body? Starting with such initial challenge it becomes evident that overlapping natural to artificial implies creation of a content and continent relationship, which originates from established referential points. Addressing the concept of what is natural and what is artificial a coexistence between natural and artificial conditions emerge within a system subject to the random conditions which are inherent to live organisms. Technology strives to simulate organic bodies and to join them in search of efficiency too. It is thus possible to compare side by side different spaces which coexist in the same system: biological and artificial space. The intelligence which emerges from man/system relationship maximizes perception and, consequently cognition. A system is being proposed in which the relationship man/space is being stimulated to obtain interactive experiences. Public is being spurted to discover unknown areas, sensible space fields through their bodies' movement. Patches on visitors' bodies magnify their perception functions The variables weight, height and movement of such patched bodies in space are processed by a software which responds to commands through sounds and images taking into account the system's randomization. Relational System is conceived as a work-in-progress since every day new information, conceptual and life data are being incorporated which feed the System in a constant process. The possibility that more sensitive men, conscious of their bodies' action in an expanded space, through reciprocal exchange movement involving the interacting parters - the system - the artist; joint cooperation, implies in the full understanding of each individual's role in the world: joint Evolution. |
