Abstract: |
Presently, one of the main lines of
research being developed in the Laboratory of Sound and Images pertains to the space-time
in virtual reality whick takes place in cyberspace. The virtual reality exists and
proliferates in a very special space-time framework. It is a computational space-time
created within the computer and is made up of 3-dimensional ambients where the scenes are
activated by the users behavior, and where the real time, which is not independent
of the space, is determined by the machine almost simultaneously with the emission and
reception of informatio (bits). The computational space-time, in the virtual worlds, is the main factor sharpening the senses and causes a hybridization of body and image. This process is made possible by the creation of objects and their manipulation through the insertion of visual and sound effects. This can be compared to the dynamics of the interference of remembered images with the actual image in normal vision. In this research, we are interactively creating our visual world into a 3-dimensional space. Our proposal is to implement a system where the visual and acoustic perceptions of multiple users interact with the modeled objects allowing these to be modified and manipulated, concretely, in a certain type of dynamics known as cyberculture of virtual civilization. Furthemore, we intend to attract the observer to the system through cognitive and perceptual processes, considering that his real space-time is different from yhe computational one. On the one hand, experience reality in na organized form as objective space and linear time which we call the physical world. On the other hand in the virtual worlds the physical world is negated. Time is transformed from its linear attribute to a lattice of intentions whic expands the fields of vision where the body is seen by being and is touched by touching. |

| Suzete Venturelli: Teacher,
researcher and artist computacional in the Department of Visual Arts of the University of
Brasília. He/she works in the area since 1987 and it created, in 1989, the Laboratory of
Image and Sound, of which it is coordinating, and where develops researches in the areas
of the art computacional and design, dentre which stand out the analyses of the methods
computacionais used for artistic creation in the aspects of the modelagem, animation,
interatividade, virtual reality, immersion in time-Real, as well as of creation of systems
hipermidiáticos. It coordinated the creation of Mestrado in Art, with concentration area
in Art and Technology of the Image. It participated of international and national
exhibitions in that knowledge area, with publications in annals, magazines and books.
He/she has ministrado masters degree courses and participated of congresses and important
events for the research in several universities and masters degree associations in the
country. Maria of Fátima Borges Burgos :Master in Art and Technology of the Image for the University of Brasília, is sub-coordinator of the Laboratory of Image and Sound since 1989. It created the first Virtual Museum for the Arte Computacional, in 1995. In that virtual space, the main objective is the abordagem of a portion of the recent history of the Brazilian intelligence and its consequences on the contemporary society, beyond a permanent forum of debates and of critic, in the sense of analysis of the work, a registration space and documentation of the artistic-technician-scientific thought of this final one and beginning of centuries. He/she has ministrado courses on systems and languages hipermidiáticas. It has been publishing book and texts in electronic and printed magazines. |
