Abstract: |
Asynchronic technological evolution
can lead to different models and patterns that compete among themselves. That was the
situation we had to cope up with during the 70's and 80's, when we had on the market at
least three options for VHS recording and reproductions color systems: Pal, NTSC, Beta. In
Brazil the patterns adopted for television broadcasting was Pal M, while the VHS equipment
predominantly widespread was the NTSC pattern. One would expect technical troubles
emerging whenever it was the case for showing a video made in Germany or Norway, countries
that adopted Pal G. The result was poor image reproduction, loss of color recognition,
flickering etc. Now, I take these matters not as technical defects errors, but as
aesthetical possibilities. Working with equipment from various configurations, I provoke
these effects, process them in the computer to get rich abstract, or semi-abstract images.
An example of this proceedings is the infographic panels where I explore the conceptual interrelations among color systems concerning their plastic values. On the other hand, a videographic essay emphasizes synergy and structural aspects of the image in movement, and the sound alterations as well. What will take us to a the combinatory discourse when assuming the form of a video installation. Thematically, I introduce my iconographic personal universe, working on my former work as a multimedia artist, or the images can come from appropriation from electronic media, video or press. With the help of the computer I incorporate randomic parameters to the subject. And the final imagery is the result of multiple printing and over-printings in the manner of a technological palimpsest. In the presentation at the Invenção I will show samples of my infographic experiments and fragments of the video obtained from systemic incompatibilities. The experiments are part of my master degree research at the School of Communications and Arts in The University of São Paulo. PALAVRAS CHAVES: "incompatibilidade entre sistemas", "arte combinatória", "arte eletrônica", "infografias", "vídeo-arte". |
