Abstract:

I have been seeking to identify diferent forms of Visual Representation for a long time and I would like to present my researches.
My work is a semiotic approach to Visual Language through the new technologies applied to Visual Representations.
This study is an analysis of theoretical questions related to Images based on Peircean thought (Charles Sanders Peice). It is not only theoretical, there is an experimental part, which work with images created by the computer.
The aim of this work is to examine Sign Systems that develop in the sequentiallity of time.
Actually, everything that has a form (or a formal state) in the world has some kind of space-time relationship and this is its quality of being materialized in the world. But, there are other qualities of these forms which can be distinguished, as the dynamics of the Signs. And that is an important point, we are not talking about Objects, but Signs that have a form in the world!
Although the focus of my study is specifically images, nowadays we are no longer classifying Languages into Visual, Verbal and Sound categories, without running the risk of finding ourselves in a difficult situation when forced to limit frontiers. This approach leads us to believe that, consequently, things are imbricating, and the dilation of the word 'image' is providential. Another change to be highlighted in this new 'image' is the involvement of computational logic in the logic of images.
And finally, the premise of my works is that logic programming can act poetically on images.
In this way we would be adding new contents to the Language which are exclusively for computer science: the computer programming logic - this, in itself, is already an important differential -, as well as the effective participation of the observer.
These are some points of my presentation.

Statement

As a researcher, It is my intention to attend the conference to share my researches and participate of this important event, where I hope to have an interesting discussion about perception, communication, and cognition.
