Pascal Dombis

Origin

France

Digital artist Pascal Dombis lives and works in Paris. He graduated as an engineer from Insa University in Lyon, France, and began using computers and algorithms to produce his artistic output while he studied at the Boston Museum School in 1987.

From 1994 to 2000, he participated in fractalist exhibitions curated by art critics Susan Conde and Henri-François Debailleux, who used fractal theory to launch a new type of art.

Known for his excessive use of simple algorithmic rules, Dombis creates his own algorithms and programs. His works are unpredictable visual environments, unstable and dynamic, which explore areas such as language, noise, control, irrationality and contemporary society through a digital prism.
